Egg Freezing Consultation

I had my egg freezing consultation this past Wednesday (3/20/19) with Boston IVF. It was pretty straightforward and everyone there was very nice and did not make me feel uncomfortable in any way.
We first met with one of their Reproductive Endocrinologists, Dr. Benjamin Lannon. He was very informative on how the whole process works and informed me that we could retrieve my eggs in early May if we decide to start ASAP. That's amazing!!
However, after the meeting with Dr. Lannon, we were brought into another room and waited for their financial advisor to meet with us. She informed me that the cost for the first cycle was $6,500, not including the medications to help prepare my body, which would be another $3,000. So, if all things go well, the cheapest I would get out of this would be $9,500. Which I cannot do.
Devastated, I sought help from my mom. My mom then called our insurance company and explained what happened and how we believed it was supposed to be a covered procedure. The woman we spoke to informed us that it IS a covered service, however, I need prior authorization from my insurance and I need my PCP and Boston IVF to both send in for prior authorization.
So now, we're back to the drawing board and waiting for insurance to approve the services performed by Boston IVF. I knew that there would be a lot of hoops I would have to jump through this year but damn, this is the hardest process I've ever had to go through.
