How I Started

I started my transitioning by doing one of the hardest things a person can do, come out. I told my girlfriend first, then my mom, then my sister, then my grandmother. Luckily, my grandmother took over the roll of telling other family members about me, I couldn't take any more coming out after all the long talks with most everyone. My mom sort of rejected the idea at first. By that I mean that she didn't want to think about it much. We started seeing an LCSW soon after I told her, and she has been great ever since talking to my therapist a few times and doing some research on her own and taking a long amount of time to process everything. My LCSW was able to write me the letters I needed to begin hormone therapy, and the rest is history!
