No Phone Intake Screening

So like the title says, I did not have my phone intake screening with Johns Hopkins last Wednesday (02/27/19). I waited patiently for about 40 minutes for someone to call me, so I called their Transgender Center for some information on the issue. I spoke to the woman who I had scheduled my intake with, Nashawn, so I believe she remembered making the appointment for me. After a brief moment on hold, she informed me that my appointment had apparently never been scheduled. She believes that her coworker was also scheduling a phone intake screening at the same time she was scheduling mine, so it bumped me out of the time slot. She told me that she would get in touch with Bethany, the social worker, and see if she could fit me in somewhere in the near future because Bethany did not have anything scheduled for a while.

I was very disappointed. Sometimes it seems like other peoples movement into surgery is easier than mine. I keep having setback after setback and this probably isn't my last one.

Luckily, Bethany said she could fit me in this coming Wednesday (03/06/19) at 1:00pm! I also got a confirmation email for the appointment, so that makes me feel a little better.

Lesson: Always ask for some form of confirmation for an appointment!!
